Christian pontiff delivers sermon on journey of Jesus Christ
Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II led the Good Friday service at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in downtown Cairo.
The service came as the nation’s Orthodox Christians prepared for Easter, which is becoming a day of celebration for all Egyptians, including Muslims.
Several bishops attended the services while the number of worshippers was limited.
The prayers were held this year in exceptional circumstances due to the national fight against Covid-19.
The Coptic Orthodox Church ensured that worshippers and high-ranking clergy practiced social-distancing and wore face masks.
Pope Tawadross called on the faithful to adhere to anti-Covid-19 measures.
