CAIRO- Prosecutor General Hamada El-Sawy decided Sunday to remand a man in custody pending investigations over negligence charges after the man’s pet dog mauled his neighbor inside a compound in Sheikh Zayed City of Giza.
According to a statement by the prosecution, the dog owner was leaving his dangerous pet without any muzzles or reins.
Having sustained critical injuries, the mauled man is now completely unconscious in hospital.
As per witnesses interrogated by the prosecution, the dog had previously attacked the same man and another person living in the same compound, but they both refused to report the case to the police.
Meanwhile, the dog owner and a domestic worker, who witnessed the incident, have both claimed that the dog was just reacting to the man’s attempt to abuse it.
