CAIRO – Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb has lauded an initiative of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to allocate 500 million dollars for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
In a press release on Tuesday, Tayyeb said the initiative proves that the Palestinian issue will remain the main cause for Egyptians and Arabs.
It also reaffirms Egypt’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, Tayyeb noted.
He also called on the international community to support this humanitarian initiative and support Palestinian families affected by the Israeli raids.
