CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan said the Employees Emergency Fund affiliated to the ministry paid cash money to workers that amounted to LE1.790 billion as an emergency aid in the different industrial facilities until late September.
As many as 418,740 workers benefited from the aid in 3,890 establishments, added Saafan during a meeting of the fund’s board Thursday.
He said the meeting discussed the financial situation of the fund.
The amount of money represents 100 per cent of the main salary of the employees with a minimum of LE600 per month, said Saafan.
This comes at the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to support workers, who are harmed by Covid-19 with special focus on tourism employees, according to him.
Saafan said the ministry’s emergency fund is established with the aim of supporting companies that fail to pay their workers’ salaries until they can overcome the hard economic circumstances and continue production.
