CAIRO – A number of heads of media authorities stressed the importance of Kuwaiti Emir Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah’s visit to Cairo and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, saying it reflects the strong ties between Egypt and Kuwait.
In statements to KUNA news agency, they underlined the importance of the visit as it comes within the framework of the countries’ keenness on enhancing bilateral ties and joint Arab action.
Chairman of the Board of Directors and Editor-in-Chief of the Middle East News Agency (MENA) Ahmed Kamal said that the Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations became stronger under the wise leadership of both countries.
Kamal underlined efforts exerted by both countries to promote ties in the different areas and keenness of both leaderships on continuing political coordination on issues of mutual interest in the different gatherings amidst the difficult circumstances taking place in the Arab world.
Both leaders have the same viewpoints on the necessity of bringing an end to the genocide war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip, he made it clear.
As for the Arab-Arab co-operation, Kamal said that there is a continuous coordination between both countries to face the political crises triggered in some Arab countries.
Regarding the joint trade and economic cooperation, Kamal lauded the volume of Kuwaiti investments in several sectors in Egypt, saying the private and public sectors in Kuwait effectively contributed to shoring up economy in Egypt.
The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Kuwait reached dlrs 5 billion in 2020, driven by 104 cooperation agreements signed by the two countries, he further noted.
Kuwait is the third biggest Arab trading partner to Egypt after Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, he said.
In the education field, Kamal said there are 23,000 university and post-graduate students from Kuwait in Egypt’s universities.
