Egypt’s Irrigation Minister Hany Sweilam has praised the long history of co-operation between Egypt and the Netherlands, which dates back to the 70s, in the field of water.
A joint cooperation deal has been sealed between the Ministry’s National Water Research Center (NWRC) and Dutch Wageningen University and Deltares in applied water research, aka Water-JCAR, said Sweilam Wednesday.
He was speaking during a workshop to launch a plan of action meant to assess the impact of irrigation development and scientific innovations on the water sector.
Sweilam greatly appreciated Dutch support for his Ministry to be able to deal with future water challenges through integrated management and upgraded strategies.
The minister stressed the importance of providing necessary training for workers in the water field, particularly young engineers and researchers at the Irrigation Ministry.
