Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit in Dubai.
The meeting discussed Egypt’s economic achievements in the face of regional and global challenges, as well as the its efforts to boost the role of the private sector in development and in the promotion of structural reforms for fiscal and monetary policies.
Georgieva praised the role played by the bank in managing the country’s monetary policy during a period of exceptional difficulties. She noted that she expects the IMF to increase the value of the loan provided to Egypt due to the impact of external factors on its economy.
She also stressed the Egyptian economy’s resilience in the face of regional and global crises, and the IMF’s commitment to continuing its excellent co-operation with Egypt.
