The Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Ayman Ashour witnessed on Wednesday the inking of a co-operation protocol between the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) of the US.
This comes within the framework of activities of NIOF in the Blue Zone as part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNCCC) COP27.
The protocol aims at boosting joint scientific cooperation in the field of oceanography and launching programs to curb climate change, protect sea wealth and and maintain coral reefs.
It also aims at helping the Egyptian researchers to work in Woods Hole research ships.
Meanwhile, Ashour inspected the activities of the pavilion oceanography organized by 16 scientific institutions specialised in the field of oceanography.
The NIOF organizes eight activities during COP 27 discussing climate changes and their impact of the African continent in addition to putting a roadmap for handling oceans in Africa.
