A former minister recently held a book signing in Cairo recently.
Nabil Fahmy, who was foreign affairs minister from June 2013 until July 2014, held the event for his latest book In the Epicentre of Events – Egypt’s Diplomacy in War, Peace and Transition at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
Fahmy, who is currently Founding Dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at AUC.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry attended the book signing along with speakers at the event AUC President Ahmad Dallal, Amr Moussa, former Arab League Secretary General, Egyptian politician and diplomat, and Bibliotheca Alexandrina director Mostafa el-Feki.
Reviewing the high points of Egyptian diplomacy in the regional and internationally interactions, the author presents a unique perspective on the Palestine-Israel peace process and Egypt’s relations with the US and Russia.
The book covers four decades of Fahmy’s public service in the offices of the Egyptian Presidency as a career diplomat where he was a policy advisor to the Foreign Minister and the Japanese Ambassador.
For nine years as he was Ambassador to the United States before he became foreign minister in 2013.
