CAIRO- The government has since day one managed to build a strong economy capable of dealing flexibly with the current global economic challenges, affirmed Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet.
The minister added that the various global challenges and crises forced the government to take actions aiming at building a strong economy capable of dealing with consecutive domestic and international challenges.
The minister’s remarks came while delivering a statement on the country’s 2022/23 budget before the Parliament’s session Monday under Counselor Hanafi el- Gebali.
The current general budget for fiscal year 2022/2023 comes amid very difficult and exceptional circumstances, he added.
He also pointed out to the consequences associated with the coronavirus crisis, adding that Egypt’s macroeconomic performance has proved its resilience against the severe impact caused by the pandemic.
The finance minister, meanwhile, credited Egypt’s resilience in the face of global and local economic shocks to the economic reform undertaken by the government.
