Egyptian Defence Minister General Mohamed Zaki has attended a drill staged by Artillery Corps elements in the Second Field Army’s range, the Armed Forces spokesman said in a statement on Sunday.
Code-named Magd-16, the practical demonstration was carried out with live ammunition, the spokesman said in a statement he posted on his official Facebook page.
Attending the demonstration were Armed Forces Chief of Staff Osama Askar, commanders of the Armed Forces’ main branches, senior officers and a group of cadets of military colleges and institutes.
Also attending the drill were members of the National Security Committee of the House of Deputies (parliament) and a number of media professionals.
The training comes as part of the annual plan for combat training of Armed Forces formations and units, the spokesman said.
The Commander of the Second Field Army delivered a speech in which he stressed that the General Command of the Armed Forces is extending full support to tactical formations, main branches and all specialised corps with a view to elevating combat readiness to the highest levels in the implementation of all the tasks assigned to them.
At the end of the drill, the Defence Minister and Commander-General of the Armed Forces, Gen Zaki, conveyed to the participating troops the greetings and appreciation of President Sisi and lauded the troops’ distinguished performance which reflected the advanced level of qualification and training.
Gen Zaki also urged commanders and officers to be keen on benefiting from the latest trends in science and technology in order to ensure gratifying performance in the implementation of all tasks, the Armed Forces spokesman said.
