Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted on Wednesday relations between Egypt and US are strong, deep-rooted and extend over long decades of work and mutual understanding.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his US counterpart Antony Blinken in Cairo, Abdelatty welcomed the visit of the US secretary of state and his accompanying delegation.
Blinken’s trip to Cairo comes as part of a number of shuttle visits to the region and Cairo, he added.
The foreign minister said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Blinken Wednesday and held a frank and long meeting with him to discuss all developments in bilateral ties between Egypt and US as part of existing strategic relations between the two friendly countries.
President Sisi asserted during the meeting the depth and strength of such ties and the joint keenness by both nations on promoting them.
Abdelatty said he launched today with secretary Blinken a working group in charge of joint cooperation between Egypt and US in the sectors of tourism, education, culture and higher education, in presence of a number of Egyptian ministers.
Abdelatty said he held long talks with Blinken involving the delegations of the two countries before the launch of this round as part of the strategic dialogue.
The talks tackled ways of developing bilateral bonds and a number of regional and international files of mutual concern, he added.
Abdelatty further pointed out bilateral ties between Egypt and US are strong and deep.
Today, we have talked in detail about further developing such ties and the strategic aspect, in addition to the greater interest by US and Egypt in developing these relations as part of mutual respect and joint interests, he added.
The Egyptian foreign minister said Egypt is a regional and main country and the US is considered a major global power.
It is normal to have long dialogue, strong and deep relations and constant consultation regarding several regional and international issues of joint interest, according to him.
He said we talked today in detail about cooperation in the sector of economy and investment and there is a mutual understanding and keenness on developing these economic relations, including investments and encouraging US companies to work in the Egyptian market.
