Egypt’s Minister of Finance Mohamed Maaet asserted Egypt’s keenness on promoting co-operation with the Asian partners with the view to attracting more investments to Egypt, according to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
This came during his participation in the 17th Asian Financial Forum (AFF) in Hong Kong, which is held under the theme “Multilateral Cooperation for a Shared Tomorrow”.
Asia has a diversified economy that provides promising opportunities for growth and competitive elements that enable it to become a global manufacturing and re-exporting hub, the minister said.
He stressed the importance of working on having multilateral partnerships based on more flexible financial policies to face global challenges that greatly affect achieving sustainable economic growth for all developed, low- and middle-income countries.
Maait underlined the Egyptian government’s keenness on getting into the Asian financial market and benefiting from the available opportunities there.
In 2023, Egypt succeeded as the first country in the Middle East and North Africa region in issuing 3.5 billion yuan-denominated green bonds (panda bonds), equivalent to 500 million dollars, in the Chinese market, the minister noted.
