ASWAN, Upper Egypt – EU Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger said there will be partnership programmes with Egypt at one billion euros in grants and loans within the framework of an agreement due to be endorsed shortly.
He made the remarks on Wednesday on the fringe of an exhibition of wicker craft development in Aswan.
Berger said the financing will create various investments at 7.700 billion euros.
He said the EU is working with the Egyptian government to empower women, create jobs and support civil society organisations.
Berger added that he will visit several most needy villages and cities as the EU is looking forward to realising development there.
He hailed the projects implemented under the presidential initiative of Decent Life in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt Vision 2030.
The EU has contributed to several service projects, including the third metro line (green line) as well as health, electricity, sanitation, irrigation and agriculture projects.
He noted that the EU has also contributed to extending natural gas to neediest villages in Aswan.
