Egypt’s Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker discussed on Tuesday with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) developments of the national strategy for green hydrogen and ways of the bank’s support to Egypt in light of its upcoming host of the UN COP27.
Shaker touched on the Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy which aims to increase renewable energy to 42% by 2035 and explained that the Government of Egypt is taking steps to expand hydrogen production in cooperation with EBRD.
The minister hailed the fruitful cooperation with the bank which enjoys close relations with Egypt, especially in the renewable energy sector, adding the country is starting a new phase of cooperation with the bank in terms of its orientation to the green hydrogen production.
Meanwhile, the delegation said they are keen on holding a number of events ahead of the UN conference in cooperation with the Egyptian government, adding they are interested in offering all support to the electricity sector and achieving progress to implement the consultation business for the green hydrogen strategy.
