Egypt’s Ambassador in Washington Moataz Zahran said the county’s National Strategy for Human Rights is an outcome of a national effort and consultations, involving the national institutions in Egypt for three years to come up with a comprehensive vision to develop human rights.
The development of the human rights system came through specific foundations, the ambassador said at an online discussion with students of Virginia University.
The foundations are the civil and political rights, the economic, social and cultural rights, the rights of women, children, people with disabilities and the elderly, in addition to the human right to education and capacity building, he added.
During the session, Zahran reviewed the strategic relations between Egypt and the United States in the military, trade, economic, cultural and educational domains.
The ambassador highlighted Egypt’s achievements in the fields of economic and societal development and women empowerment.
