CAIRO – The media center of the cabinet denied on Sunday reports on the increase of fares and ticket prices for public transport across the nation after the latest hike in fuel price.
In a statement, the center said it contacted the Local Development Ministry that dismissed as groundless such reports, saying there is no increase in fare prices as heavy fuel price remains unchangeable at EGP 7.25 per liter.
The ministry promised to step up campaigns on all public transport stations to detect any violation.
It urged citizens to report any fare increase through www.facebook.com/sotakmasmwo or call hotline number 15330.
It also called on all media outlets to verify the authenticity of any report before publishing it to avoid disrupting public order.
