The Food Export Council is probing the possibility of increasing Ghanaian imports to Egypt after having explored the market there.
The government is seeking to up its imports of food industry inputs from Ghana that are not available in Egypt, said the Council in a statement Sunday.
The meeting followed the exploration visit to Ghana on June 13-17, according to the statement.
The aim is to develop Egyptian food exports to Africa, read the statement, adding that the visit to Ghana followed previous stops in Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan and Djibouti.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two sides with the aim to exchange information and expertise regarding marketing activities, the statement noted.
It made it clear that Egypt’s food exports to Ghana reached about 13 million dollars only in 2021.
