Egypt on Wednesday offered its condolences to the Philippines and its people over the death of a number of people in flooding and landslides.

Reports said nearly 60 people were killed in landslides and floods, as rescuers dug up more bodies with their bare hands in villages crushed by rain-induced avalanches.
Most of the deaths from tropical storm Megi – the strongest to hit the disaster-prone archipelago this year – were in the central province of Leyte where a series of landslides devastated communities.
