Residents of Diarb Negm, Sharqiya Governorate, on Sunday engaged in community dialogue to have their proposals for rural development heard.
The dialogue was held in the context of the presidential rural development initiative ‘Decent Life’.
The aims of the Decent Life Foundation, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in early 2019, are to improve living standards, infrastructure and public services for 4,658 villages, which are home to 59 million people.
The foundation has an estimated budget of LE700 billion.
The initiative is being carried out in three phases, catering for 1,500 villages each.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli announced that phase one will be complete by the end of this year.
Some 23,000 projects have been set up within the first phase with the implementation rate at over 90 per cent.
