CAIRO – The St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, under Pope Tawadros II, has greeted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the interior minister and the policemen on the occasion marking the 70th anniversary of Police Day.
In a statement Tuesday, the Church said that this day marks the daily sacrifices of policemen for the sake of homeland.
The Church, meanwhile, wished that security and peace would always prevail throughout Egypt.
Police Day commemorates resistance by Egyptian police to British occupation forces in Ismailia in 1952, which resulted in the death of dozens of police officers.
