Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi met on Friday with Moez Doraid, the Director of UN Women’s Regional Office for the Arab States.
Minister Morsi discussed means to enhance collaboration between the ministry and UN Women Regional Office, including projects on ending violence against women and establishing women’s shelters and guidance centres.
Talks also covered a partnership with this UN women organisation to promote gender equality, develop comprehensive human development, and achieve sustainable growth.
The two sides explored future co-operation in areas such as empowering rural women working in agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The meeting discussed the possibility of organising an international conference on combating violence against women, in collaboration with the National Council for Women.
