Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said on Sunday the Arab Housing Conference is a platform for exchanging ideas and Arab and international expertise to develop urban communities.
Addressing the seventh Arab Housing Conference, Abul Gheit lauded accomplishments Egypt realized in the housing domain, citing the establishment of the New Administrative Capital and a number of smart cities.
He referred to growing expansion in number of cities to meet continued demographic growth in the Arab region, saying hoped-for urban planning should take into consideration challenges resulting from climate to mitigate harmful emissions, provide clean energy and improve management of available natural resources.
Addressing those responsible for housing sector, Abul Gheit said they are key partners in current battle to face climate change, expressing confidence in their abilities to face climate challenges.
