Arab FMs condemn burning Holy Quran copy by extremists in Sweden 1 - Egyptian Gazette

CAIRO- The Council of Arab Foreign Ministers at the Arab League has vehemently condemned the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran by extremists outside Stockholm’s central mosque in Sweden yesterday, which marks the first day of Eid ul-Adha Muslim festival.
In a press release on Thursday, the council said this heinous act, deliberately orchestrated to coincide with the Muslim feast – a reminder of the importance of peace and sacrifice – is a blatant provocation to the feelings of nearly two billion Muslims around the world, fueling violence and hate speech.
The council urged the international community in general, and the Swedish authority in particular, to take the measures needed to prevent the recurrence of such provocative incidents that cannot be justified under the pretext of freedom of expression.
It also emphasized the importance of standing against all acts of hatred that perpetuate Islamophobic discrimination and stimulate violence and abuse against all religions.
