CAIRO – Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad al Alimi said Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is a perfect example of a brave commander and an inspiring leader of modern Arab development.
He made the remarks on Saturday during a joint press conference with President Sisi.
He voiced the Yemeni people’s appreciation for Egypt’s unwavering support to Yemen.
He said Egypt offers support through the Coalition to Support Legitimacy to restore the Yemeni state and topple the Iran-backed rebels.
He said the talks with Sisi addressed the latest developments in Yemen and ongoing efforts by the council for improving conditions in liberated governorates, especially at the economic and services levels, in addition to unifying army and security forces and carrying out reforms.
He added that the talks reviewed peace efforts being exerted in coordination with the coalition which is led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE – that spared no effort to offer all needed support to end the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Alimi stressed solidarity with Egypt in defending its water rights as shown in all regional and international forums.
Alimi said the talks tackled security and safety risks posed to international maritime security in view of rising antagonistic activities backed by Iran across the Red Sea and Bab el Mandeb Strait.
The talks, according to MENA, also touched on the great threat posed by the rusting oil tanker FSO Safer which is stranded off the coast of Yemen, he said, warning that any explosion or leak from it could trigger one of the biggest oil spill disasters in history and cause grave harm to Egypt, Yemen and other Red Sea states.
He added that “President Sisi underlined that Yemen’s security is part of the security of Egypt and other regional countries.”
The talks also tackled means of enhancing cooperation between the two count
ries and benefiting from Egypt’s pioneering experiment in developing the service sector, including health, education and reconstruction.
He said a number of memorandums of understanding will be signed between the two governments soon.
He offered thanks to President Sisi and the Egyptian people and government for the warm hospitality accorded to him.
