CAIRO – The extraordinary session of the Arab League Council convened on Wednesday at the level of permanent delegates, at the headquarters of the AL General Secretariat, under Ambassador El Houssein Sidi Abdoullah Dieh, Mauritania’s ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the AL.
The meeting is attended by the pan-Arab body’s Assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss means of adopting an Arab action to support the Palestinian cause, particularly in light of the continuing crimes of genocide, starvation and forced displacement committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.
The meeting, which is held upon Palestine’s request, discusses the Arab and international action, in light of Israel’s threats to raid Rafah, which hosts more than 1.5 Palestinian citizens and refugees.
The meeting also discusses Israel’s rejection to implement UNSC’s relevant resolutions, which call for an immediate ceasefire and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.
