CAIRO- Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit denounced the international community’s total failure to stop ongoing Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip.
He said the international community’s silence helped Israel to wage an aggression on Lebanon.
Abul Gheit made the comments in his speech before the 9th edition of the Union for the Mediterranean Regional Forum that kicked off in the Spanish city of Barcelona on Monday.
The AL chief called on countries participating in the forum to follow the example of European countries that recently recognized Palestine as an independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967.
Abul Gheit also advocated for reaching an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon and fully implementing UN Resolution 1701, which in turn contributes to achieving security on the borders between Lebanon and Israel.
He held the international community, especially Israel’s friends, responsible for the continuous Israeli horrific war in Gaza, calling on them to put an end to it.
