CAIRO – Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said on Tuesday that unity and co-operation among Arab countries are the only way for survival in the face of regional and international threats.
Giving a lecture at the National Defense College in Oman themed “international and regional variables and their impact on joint Arab action”, Abul Gheit called on Arab countries to deal with such challenges through the joint Arab action.
A reliable source at the pan-Arab organisation said Abul Gheit focused in his lecture on the most important issues besetting the region including terrorism and the climate change issue, and urged rallying international efforts and co-operation of all parties to face the challenges.
He will head for Saudi Arabia from Muscat to preside over a meeting of the higher committee of the joint Arab action which kicks off Wednesday.
The committee holds its biannual meeting to follow up the goals and mechanisms of the Arab League work system.
