CAIRO- Three terrorist elements have been killed in an exchange of fire with Egyptian police troops in North Sinai.
The elements belong to a dangerous terrorist cell that was planning attacks on Christian citizens, property and places of worship.
Acting on a tip-off, the troops could detect the place of three elements as they were about to conduct a hostile operation.
They were travelling in a white small Nissan truck when they recognized they were surrounded by police. The elements then opened fire at the troops, who shot back killing all three of them.
One of the three had a suicide belt on him that went off and killed him.
They had three machine guns, one explosive belt, a grenade and some shells in their possession.
Two of the terrorists were identified as Mohamed Zeyada Salem and Youssef Ibrahim Selim.
Search is still on for more members of the terrorist cell, which is believed to have had a hand in the assassination of citizen Nabil Habashi.
All legal measures have been taken and the prosecution has started a probe.
