MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, the founder and Master developer of “Mostakbal City” and “MADA” in East Cairo, has obtained the license for the implementation of Internet of Things (IOT) technologies from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority. With this license, MIDAR will be able to provide smart city services using the latest IoT technologies in its owned cities.
This achievement enhances MIDAR’s position and leadership as a founding and Master developer in this vital sector and underscores its commitment to adopting the latest innovations in the cities it develops, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The Internet of Things (IOT) is an interconnected network of devices and objects equipped with sensors, software, and other technologies that enable them to collect and exchange data over the internet. It also includes city infrastructure, allowing real-time monitoring and communication between devices without human intervention.
IoT contributes to improving the operation of smart cities through effective management of various vital sectors. In transportation, smart traffic signals help alleviate congestion, while smart parking provides real-time data on available spaces, improving traffic flow within MIDAR cities. Tracking public transport arrival times enhances user experience and overall traffic system efficiency.
In energy sector, smart networks monitor and dynamically adjust energy consumption to reduce waste, while smart street lighting and renewable energy integration improve efficiency, ensuring sustainable and effective energy use within MIDAR cities.
In smart environmental systems, smart bins enhance waste collection processes, and IoT sensors support recycling efforts and water monitoring, enabling devices to detect leaks and track pollution levels to ensure city safety.
In terms of security, smart surveillance systems enhance safety and assist in efficiently directing emergency vehicles. Additionally, smart building systems improve energy use through intelligent lighting, ventilation, and cooling systems, allowing managers to monitor buildings remotely.
Commenting on this achievement, Eng. Ayman Elkousey, CEO & Managing Director of MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, stated: “We are proud to be the first company in Egypt to obtain the (IOT) license. This is a vital step towards our vision of transforming MIDAR cities into the leading smart cities in Egypt developed by the private sector.
Technological advancement, including IoT applications, enhances quality of life by improving services and infrastructure. We look forward to applying this experience in the cities developed by MIDAR, reinforcing our leadership in the real estate development sector.”
Elkousey added: “We are committed to maintaining our leadership in developing smart, sustainable & fully integrated cities. Our strategy relies on the latest innovative technologies to create a smarter, more comfortable, and luxurious living environment. By implementing IoT technologies, we aim to improve daily quality of life and provide a prominent model of innovation and technological advancement.
As a core technology in smart city development, IoT enhances urban infrastructure and services, elevating quality of life, reducing costs, and promoting sustainability. Through connecting devices, data collection, and real-time decision-making, IoT contributes to the global development of cities, and at MIDAR, we aspire to match these global smart cities and achieve similar results in MIDAR cities, enhancing our ability to provide a unique model of innovation and development.”
