The Egyptian National Authority for Food Safety President, Dr Tareq El-HOUBY, met with the Australian Ambassador in Cairo, Axel Wabenhorst.
They discussed the ways of cooperation between Egypt and Australia in fields of supervisory and regulatory processes in relation to food safety systems.
Also, exchanging information and expertise, especially in the field of scientific research related to food safety, supporting training programmes for the development of the human resources of NFSA, and promoting the development of co-operation between the food authorities in both countries.
For his part, EL-HOUBY invited Wabenhorst to attend the annual celebration of World Food Safety Day, which is scheduled to be at the end of May and is titled “Modern Food Systems as a Catalyst for Innovation and Investment in the Food Production Sector.”
The event is organised on the sidelines of World Food Safety Day.
Representatives of the private sector and food safety experts from Egypt and around the world will come to clarify the mechanism for developing and implementing food control programmes that effectively serve the protection of consumer health. This will help to create an environment suitable for improving the performance of Egypt’s food and agri-food sectors, as well as build confidence in Egypt’s food products at the national and international levels.
