Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause and the situation in the region.
President Sisi stressed that the Palestinian cause will remain the central issue in the region until it is resolved through a just and comprehensive settlement.
He highlighted Egypt’s continued efforts to support the Palestinian people and advance a settlement based on international legitimacy, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Abbas expressed pleasure at visiting Egypt, praising Egypt’s efforts to support the Palestinian cause and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s rejection of all forms of escalation and Israeli violations against Palestinians.
He noted that Egypt will continue working with mediators to implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement reached during Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025.
The President called for all parties to comply with the agreement, including ending escalation, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, and creating conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.
President Sisi renewed Egypt’s rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians or undermine the Palestinian cause.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian National Authority and efforts to achieve Palestinian unity.
Abbas briefed President Sisi on the latest developments, including the deteriorating situation in the West Bank.
The two presidents agreed to intensify political coordination and consultations on Palestinian and regional developments at all levels.
