FLORENCE, Italy — Fiorentina extended its unbeaten run to 14 matches across all competitions by drawing with Atalanta 1-1 in Serie A.

Arthur Cabral equalized for Fiorentina from a penalty kick near the hour mark after Joakim Maehle put Atalanta ahead before the break.

Cristiano Biraghi nearly won it for Fiorentina with a free kick off the post. In all, Fiorentina produced seven shots on goal to Atalanta´s one.

Atalanta remained sixth, four points below the Champions League spots, and Fiorentina remained ninth.

Fiorentina takes a 4-1 advantage against Lech Poznan into the second-leg of the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals on Thursday, and also leads Cremonese 2-0 after the first leg of the Italian Cup semifinals.

Fiorentina´s last loss came on Feb. 12

A second-half goal by substitute Gregoire Defrel earned Sassuolo a 1-0 home win over Juventus also in Serie A, condemning Massimiliano Allegri’s side to successive league defeats for the first time this season.

Roma consolidated third place in Serie A with a 3-0 win over Udinese, which also had a penalty saved.

Edoardo Bove, Lorenzo Pellegrini and substitute Tammy Abraham scored for the home team, while Udinese forward Roberto Pereyra had a nightmare match as he conceded a penalty and also had a spot-kick saved.

Roma moved three points above AC Milan and five points above fifth-place Inter Milan after they both dropped points. The top four in Serie A qualify for next season´s UEFA Champions League.

Serie A leader Napoli drew as Juventus lost, meaning Roma was the only team to win after being involved in European action midweek.

AC Milan manager Stefan Pioli, meanwhile, admitted that the Rosseneri will not change their approach for Victor Osimhen.

The current Serie A champions head into the quarter-final contest of the Champions League with a slender 1-0 advantage from the first-leg.

Osimhen missed the last two meetings between both sides due to a muscular problem.

The 24-year-old is the Partenopei’s leading scorer in the competition with four goals from five outings.

Pioli is wary of the threat posed by the Nigerian but hinted his team will go into the game with their usual style of play.

“He is such a powerful, impressive and decisive striker, so we take his characteristics into account, but at the same time we have our own way of playing football and we won’t move away from that,” Pioli told a press conference.

“We saw with previous Napoli games that a lot of it is about knowing the moment to slow down and speed up, and that is even more crucial with a player like Osimhen.”
