The Indonesian Embassy in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture held an Indonesian artistic and cultural show, ‘One Night with Indonesia’ at the Cairo Opera House on Monday.

This was the second Ramadan event held by the embassy since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Ramadan nights are not just artistic and cultural performances, but reflect the close relationship between Indonesia and Egypt,” Ambassador of Indonesia Lutfi Rauf told the gathering.

The performers, who are also students at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, staged a selection from the 3,000 traditional dances from different provinces of Indonesia, which is made up of 17,000 islands with a population of 279 million.

They also performed religious songs in Arabic and Indonesian celebrating Ramadan and praising Prophet Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him).
