Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri stressed Egypt’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government and efforts to extend the UN truce and encourage all endeavours aimed at finding a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the conflict.
The foreign minister’s remarks came during his meeting on Thursday with Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said, adding that the top two diplomats discussed bilateral relations and the developments in Yemen.
Foreign Minister Shoukri expressed appreciation for the keenness of the brothers in Yemen to step coordination with Cairo and keep it informed of the latest developments in the Yemen.
The Yemeni foreign minister also handed Minister Shoukri a written message from Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi regarding bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to boost cooperation on various levels.
Minister Bin Mubarak also reviewed developments in the Yemeni scene and the ongoing efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis. He reiterated his country's appreciation for the firm Egyptian position in support of legitimacy in Yemen and efforts to reach a political settlement that restores security and stability to the country and alleviates the sever humanitarian crises it is experiencing.
He also stressed Yemen’s support of for Egypt and its national security in the face of any challenges, foremost of which is Egypt’s water security.
