Egypt’s agricultural exports rose by 36.7 per cent to hit $1.24 billion in the first five months of the 2022/2023 crop export season, compared to $ 907 million in the same period of 2021/2022, announced the Agriculture Export Council (AEC).
The volume of agricultural exports in these five months (January to September of the 2022/2023 season) reached 1.9 million tons, against 1.2 million tons in the same period of 2021/2022, the council said in its monthly report released on Tuesday.
Arab countries acquired 47 per cent of Egypt’s agriculture exports in these months, recording $580 million, the statement added.
Agricultural exports to non-EU countries hit nearly $305 million, accounting for 25 per cent of the total exports, the statement noted.
Agricultural exports to EU nations registered $187 million, while exports to Asian countries were estimated at $ 136 million, the statement read.
Agricultural exports to African countries amounted to $15 million, while exports to the countries of the North and South Americas, as well as Australia hit $17 million, the statement said.
