The government is keen to exchange expertise with Arab countries in sustainable development.
This statement by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr Hala el-Saaed came during a ceremony marking the Arab Sustainability Day to review accomplishments of Arab countries in achieving UN Strategic Development Goals (SDGs).
Forging effective partnerships is crucial to overall development that optimises the potentials of Arab countries, the minister said.
The current global changes arising from the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict place more obstacles for Arab countries on the way to sustainable development, el-Saeed added.
Arab Sustainability Day is an opportunity for dialogue between representatives of governments and private sector, civil society, women, specialised research centres and regional and international organisations to achieve goals of 2030 Sustainable Development.
Addressing the same event, Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Abul-Gheit said sustainable development with its economic, social and environment dimensions contributes a great deal to drawing up policies governing societies’ progress, preventing environmental deterioration, as well as securing wealth transfer to upcoming generations.
