CAIRO- – Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined Egypt’s interest in the Egyptian-Rwandan project of Magdi Yacoub heart centre which will further bilateral relations.

This came during a meeting on Wednesday between Shoukry and his Rwandan counterpart Vincent Biruta on the fringe of the 42nd session of the African Union executive council.

The talks tackled bilateral co-operation between the two countries in various domains as well as preparations for the second session of the joint committee in Kigali in the second half of 2023, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The two ministers agreed on the importance of enhancing Egypt’s continued medical support to Rwanda, especially through sending Egyptian doctors and medical supplies.

The talks also tackled a host of regional and international issues of mutual concern as well as the latest developments in East Congo and the outcome of the recent summit hosted by Burundi on February 4 which reviewed the security situation in East Congo.

Shoukry underlined Egypt’s support for realizing a settlement.

Shoukry also reviewed the progress realized so far in the Ethiopian dam negotiations and Egypt’s efforts to clinch a fair and balanced agreement taking into consideration the interests of the three countries; Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan.
