Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Wednesday the visiting Mauritanian Minister of National Defense Hanena Ould Sidi. The meeting was attended by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production General Mohamed Zaki and Mauritanian Ambassador to Egypt Sidi Mohamed Abdullah.
The meeting comes within the framework of enhancing the firm fraternal relations between Egypt and Mauritania and reinvigorating joint cooperation in the military and security fields, particularly in light of Mauritania’s role in counter-terrorism efforts in the Sahel region, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, the Mauritanian Minister delivered a message from the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani to President Sisi.
In his message, the Mauritanian President stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen the historical and brotherly relations between the two countries and to further advance them in various areas, particularly in military cooperation and efforts to combat terrorism. This comes in light of Mauritania’s appreciation of Egypt’s role and President El-Sisi’s leading status on both the regional and international arenas.
President Sisi conveyed his greetings to the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani. He noted that Egypt values its relations with Mauritania and stressed the importance of promoting these ties across various fields.
He also underscored Egypt’s keenness on fostering closer military and security cooperation with Mauritania, particularly in the areas of training and exchanging expertise, given Egypt’s leading role in this field.
