Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed on Monday a celebration of the Police Day at the conferences complex of the Police Academy in New Cairo.

President Sisi was received upon arrival by Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq.

The national anthem was played and the president laid down a wreath of flowers on the memorial plaque of police martyrs.

Sisi shook hands with those receiving him topped by House of Representatives Speaker Hanafi Gebali, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb and members of the Supreme Council of Police .

During the celebration, Sisi granted the republic order to the names of a number of police martyrs and honored their families.

He also granted order of excellence to a number of police officers for their outstanding performance.

The ceremony started with recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran.

At the onset of the celebration, a documentary film was displayed to highlight the responsibilities of the Egyptian Police. The film was titled “The Egyptian Police is up to the responsibilities”.

Egyptian actors Ahmed Bedier, Tarek Sabry among others participated in film.

The film depicted the heroic actions of some police officers including Abdel Fattah Ghoniem and Lt Hafez Afifi, the top officer of El Tal El Kebir police station.

Commenting on the documentary film, Sisi ordered the production of more art and drama works to crystalize the heroic police actions to brief the current generation on the sacrifices presented by police in the service of the nation across the history.

Sisi said: “We need to tell the citizens about the characters of the policemen and their heroic acts especially the heroes such of the police battle of Ismailia, 1952.”, adding that Egypt’s history has been outlined by those heroes.

Sisi also called for producing short drama works for every character who has played a heroic role among the police troops and that every character can be personalized in five episodes at most.

He also warned against attempts to defame the image of policemen and army to tarnish the image of the State.
