Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Home Trade Ali el-Moselhi and Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir on Monday opened the 7th International Exhibition for Food & Beverages (Food Africa 2022).

The two ministers also attended the International Exhibition for Processing & Packaging in the Middle East and Africa, and Dates Africa. The minister of supply said in his address to Food Africa 2022 that such exhibitions are vital to developing food industries.

Moselhi stressed the importance of Egypt’s presence in local and African markets with high-quality products at reasonable prices.

He spoke of the need to develop all agricultural, industrial and commercial entities and sectors to achieve sustainable development.

Food Africa 2022 has three large pavilions for more than 700 companies and the participation of 32 countries, Moselhi said, adding that this is a reflection of genuine co-operation and coordination between the Chamber of Food Industries, the Agricultural Export Council and the Food Export Council.

For his part, the minister of trade said Food Africa is one of the most important and largest events of its kind in Africa.

Samir said that it is an opportunity to explore new markets and establish numerous business connections, in addition to signing contracts and agreements with buyers.

Food Africa and Dates Africa are starting points for Egyptian products to access world markets and expand intra-African trade, Samir said, adding that holding the exhibition for the seventh year in a row reflects the interest of Egyptian and international companies in the African market, which is top priority for government strategy to promote foreign trade to reach $100 billion annually.
