Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday reiterated the need for preventing any transgression on roads, traffic axes and farm lands.

Commenting on the word of Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir during a ceremony to inaugurate Admiral Fouad Abou Zikry Axis (formerly known as El Tameer Axis), Sisi asked governors to prevent any transgression on canals or roads, adding that aggression on Cairo/Alexandria agricultural road (that had been implemented in 1859) impeded the State’s plans to expand the road to become ten lanes.

Sisi explained that the State has chosen to expand Cairo/Alexandria desert road to ease traffic on the agricultural road in addition to upgrading Al Nubariya road, lies along Cairo/ Alexandria desert road, to give a chance for Delta residents to have easy traffic, asserting the importance of protecting Al Nubariya Canal bridge.

Sisi warned officials and citizens against the risks and high cost of aggression on roads, noting that such huge funds are belonging to Egypt and Egyptians and the government could spend up to EGP six billions instead of 2 billions to fix any damage.

Sisi noted that the volume of transgression on Al Mahmoudiya Axis in Alexandria cost the state EGP 700 million in compensations to remove more than 2,000 violating housing units.

Sisi went on to say that without such violations and aggression on state land, Al Mahmoudiya Axis would have been established two years ago.

Sisi asserted that the State has been exerting its utmost efforts to set up an integrated network of roads that serve around 100 million population over the coming ten years.

He pointed out that the road network before he assumed office was only fit to serve around 20 to 30 million people and it would never serve the development needs or the traffic movement.
