Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el-Gazzar has followed up on work progress done to date in the “Alternative Housing for Slums” project, being implemented in the new Obour City.
The minister issued directives to the officials and engineers in charge of the project to complete it on schedule and in accordance with the highest global standards and specifications, a press release issued by the Ministry of Housing said on Sunday.
Gazzar underscored thatthe government has attached paramount importance to providing decent housing units for various segments of people, within the framework of the state’s strategy to establish integrated civilized urban communities, in addition to offering alternative accommodation to unsafe and unplanned slums.
The step came in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives with the aim of improving the quality of life to all citizens.
Minister Gazzar said that “Alternative Housing for Slums” project in new Obour city included 3,360 housing units, 96 commercial stores, an elementary-stage school, a commercial mall, a medical centre and a nursery. The aim is to offernecessary services for those who move to live in the new area.
