The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting on Tuesday to follow up on efforts to develop El-Warraq Island in Giza governorate.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq, Housing Minister Assem el Gazar, Local Development Minister Hisham Amna, Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed and Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham Swefy, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

During the meeting, the president issued directives for involving the Social Solidarity Ministry and experienced civil society organisations in the State’s efforts regarding the urban development of El-Warraq Island.

In this regard, President Sisi was briefed on the status of a strategic blueprint for upgrading the island, especially with regard to establishing modern residential buildings with small and large apartments, the spokesman added.

The president was also briefed on ongoing works to raise the efficiency of the island’s infrastructure through supplying electricity, water and sanitation services, as well as designing the network of inner roads.
