The Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the importance of boosting multi-party co-operation efforts and strengthening partnerships between Egypt and development partners for encouraging the national development vision and the green transition efforts.

This came during Madbouli’s meeting with Minister of International Co-operation Rania el-Mashat where they reviewed the activities of the Ministry of International Co-operation within the framework of the UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, held recently in Sharm el-Sheikh.

During the meeting, Mashat reviewed the results of her intensified meeting with the development multi-party and bilateral partners.

They discussed ways to boost co-operation and push forward the national development vision in addition to the efforts of the green transformation in Egypt.

Mashat highlighted the initiatives launched during COP27, pointing out to the results of the efforts of gathering developmental finance for the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) Programme to encourage the green transition and implement the national strategy of climate change.

She also shed light on the most prominent recommendations of “Sharm el-Sheikh index for just finance” which aims at encouraging finance related to the climate and boosting the multi-party co-operation and efforts and international partnerships.

She reviewed the mechanisms of the index that was launched during COP27 to encourage the ability of the developing countries and the rising economy on attracting climate investments.

She said that there is a real opportunity to achieve more international co-operation, create links between development and climate change measures, asserting work in coordination with the national bodies and development partners for the coming 12 months to boost efforts of promoting the national platform of the NWFE programme to gather easy finance mechanisms.
