Mohamed Saeed Mahrous, head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, announced the intensification of preparations at all Egyptian airports in preparation for the winter season and any air variables that may affect air traffic and work inside airports.
He added that the state of readiness of the trained emergency teams at Cairo and Egyptian airports has been raised to deal with weather fluctuations, prepare suction equipment to withdraw water pools, review the validity of equipment on the runway and reorganise them, to ensure that none of them slips during times of torrential and rain, as well as coordination with control towers.
This comes to deal with incoming and outgoing flights to the airport, in addition to the readiness of all guidance vehicles on the runway to be used in times of heavy fog, wind and dust if they occur.
He said that all the workers at the helipad were stressed on the necessity of wearing phosphorous jackets for easy visibility in times of fog and heavy rain, in the midst of full preparation of suction equipment in anticipation of the withdrawal of any pools of water formed on the helipad.
A rain protection allowance was also provided on the helipad for workers in front of halls and inside parks in conjunction with the heavy rain, and the directive to quickly facilitate all procedures for passengers traveling and coming from abroad.
