The Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Thursday opened the first International Radiology Conference, which lasts until November 4.

The event is held with the participation of representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency and local and international organisations of radiology, among others.

Speaking at the opening session of the conference, the minister said the event aims to shed light on the latest developments and theories related to radiology to cope with the state-of-the-art medical systems and scientific development.

The minister stressed that the conference has scientific importance with the participation of a host of respective experts and more than 35 lecturers of radiology from different countries, Spokesman for the Ministry Health Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.

However, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar asserted that 1.350 million surgeries were conducted within four years at a total cost of LE12 billion as part of an initiative of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to end waiting lists.

In a phone call with channel 1 of the Egyptian TV, Abdel Ghaffar said that the digital radiology system will enable the patient at the level of Egypt to get diagnosis precisely without a doctor.

The system – due to be available in 34 hospitals in 15 governorates – aims at achieving more quality, boosting efficiency and saving time and expenses, he said.

The system comes in light of the state’s digital transformation drive, he said, highlighting the great importance of digitisation in the health field.
