The Egyptian Armed Forces received on Tuesday the (MEKO-A200) frigate, named Al-Aziz, which was built by the German shipbuilding company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TMS) in the German SBN Arsenal, marking its entry into service with the Egyptian Navy, which has recently witnessed remarkable technological boom in armament systems and combat efficiency, according to the latest international systems.

This comes as part of the efforts of the Armed Forces to support the combat and technical capabilities of the Egyptian Navy in accordance with the latest global combat systems.

During the ceremony held in Bremerhaven, Germany, Commander of the Navy Ashraf Atwa hoisted the Egyptian flag on the “Al-Aziz” frigate, which is one of four MEKO-A200 frigates contracted between Egypt and Germany.

The new multi-mission frigate has the ability to sail 6,800 nautical miles, a maximum speed of 28 knots, a total length of 121.6 metres, a displacement of up to 3931 tonnes, and many technical characteristics and modern armament systems that enable it to carry out all combat missions at sea in times of peace and war, it is also used in combating various maritime threats, smuggling, illegal immigration, and securing the country’s various natural resources at sea.

The frigate, Al-Aziz, is also known for its ability to secure allied shipping lines while securing the merchant ships passing by and implementing humanitarian support operations in the affected areas in Egypt and Germany.
