Cairo, Delhi looking forward to exploring fresh prospects for fruitful co-operation

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday received India’s External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in the presence of Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri, and the Indian Ambassador to Cairo Ajit Gupte.

Ways of further boosting the frameworks of bilateral co-operation in a host of fields in line with the two nations’ potentials and capabilities were considered during the meeting, Presidency spokesman Bassam Radi said.

At the outset of the meeting started, President Sisi commended the historical ties between the two nations and asked the visiting Indian Foreign Affairs Minister to convey his greetings to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, spokesman Radi said.

Noting Egypt’s high appreciation of India as a nation of long history and great contributions in all fields, President Sisi stressed that Egypt values ​​the march of fruitful co-operation between the two countries.

Egypt, President Sisi added, is looking forward to exchanging expertise in fields of sustainable development, particularly pertaining to information technology, spokesman Radi said.

For his part, the top Indian diplomat conveyed to president Sisi a message from Prime Minister Modi expressing Delhi’s high valuation of the depth of the ties between the two nations and their friendly peoples, spokesman Radi said.

Noting that Egypt is a pillar of stability in the Middle East region and Africa and also noting the tremendous developmental achievements Egypt has witnessed in various domains over the past years under the wise leadership and insightful vision of President Sisi, the visiting Indian foreign affairs minister said his country is looking forward to exploring fresh prospects for the fruitful co-operation with Egypt.

Discussions during the meeting covered the means of boosting the frameworks of co-operation in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the two friendly peoples particularly in the fields of joint manufacturing, the exchange of military expertise and strategic goods, technological education, and enhancing investments and activities of Indian companies in Egypt, the Presidency spokesman said.

Also reviewed during the meeting were the latest developments of shred concern at both regional and international levels, especially regarding the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on the sectors of energy, food and economy, spokesman Radi said.
