Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has expressed the government’s keenness on following up on the implementation of the national strategy to develop Egyptian family, control population increase and reduce the negative effects of the population increase on development rates.
Madbouli’s statements came during a meeting Sunday with Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to review the ministry’s plan for carrying out the strategy.
During the meeting, minister Abdel Ghaffar posted Madbouli on the ministry’s executive plan on the population file which targets expansion in offering services in the fields of family planning, reproductive health and maternity.
They also discussed means to expand locally-manufactured contraceptives and turn Egypt into a hub for exporting them to African countries.
The plan seeks to merge population and family issues in the educational process through initiatives and programs aimed at reducing school dropouts especially among girls and upping marriage age to stop marriages among underage girls.
